Too often we go through life on autopilot, going through the motions and having each day pass like the one before it.

Inkjet Printers are filthy, lying Thieves
By Ken Fisher
A new study says that on average, more than half of the ink from inkjet cartridges is wasted when users toss them in the garbage. Why is that interesting? According to the study, users are tossing the cartridges when their printers are telling them they're out of ink, not when they necessarily are out of ink.

Fifteen Household Uses for Table Salt
Thousands of years ago salt was a valuable commodity and was used in place of money. Salt was given to the parents of the groom until the 8th century and by the 12th century it was sold for it's weight in gold. Salt has been used for many things through the years and in many ways but in our day we know it mostly for it's ability to enhance the flavor of our food.

25 Alternative Uses for Olive Oil
Nutritionists will continue to tout olive oil for its high content of healthful, monounsaturated fats, like oleic acid, and polyphenols. The fruit oil practically propelled the entire Western world in antiquity, and is mentioned in nearly every sacred text this side of the Tigris and Euphrates. As a cooking fat, it’s high up on the heart-smart list…which works out, ‘cause it tastes darn good.

Windows: Copy Error Messages Text to the Clipboard
We've all gotten error messages in Windows, and we generally all take the same approach to getting to the bottom of the error: by searching the contents of the message in Google. The annoying part of this process has always been that you can't select and copy text in the error message box, so you have to try manually typing out the error message. But the ChuckOp's eXPeriences blog points out there's another, much simpler solution.

The test looked at 17 different products, including offerings from Symantec, McAfee, AVG, Kaspersky, and Microsoft, and tested how well releases dated February 2 (with no updates) fared against a swath of new malware—viruses, scripts, trojans, and other nasties—that were discovered between February 2 and May 2.

On 3 June Australia commemorates the 15th anniversary of the High Court's landmark Mabo decision - the catalyst for native title in Australia.
Tribunal President Graeme Neate said the anniversary was an opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved since then, and to look forward: ‘There have been 101 registered determinations of native title, 67 that native title exists and 34 that native title does not exist. Most of these determinations have been made by agreement, but much work remains to be done.’

Modern computing environments wildly diverge from ancient times. Everything is connected to the Internet and portable devices are now the standard. General Social Survey: Australia, 2006
Among the many, often inter-related, aspects of life that are important to human wellbeing are good health, good family relationships and engagements with wider social networks, good educational opportunities and outcomes, suitable employment, a decent income and freedom from financial stress, a decent and affordable place to live, feeling safe and secure, and having access to suitable transport. There is increasing recognition that many social phenomena are inter-related and social policy is becoming less sectoral as a consequence. In 2006, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) conducted the second General Social Survey (GSS), a multi-dimensional social survey that ranges across all of these aspects of life to enable analysis of the interrelationships in social circumstances and outcomes, including the exploration of multiple advantage and disadvantage.
